The neck and body of the instrument are made from a single piece of wood. There are in all 35 sympathetic strings, of which ll are supported on extra bridges which cause a buzzing effect. The player sits cross-legged and places the instrument between his legs. The playing strings are stopped on the side by the tips of the fingernails. Used for accompaniment of vocal and dance styles.
