A traverse flute used in minshingaku (the Chinese-style chamber ensemble of Japan). Also called minteki. The instrument's distinct tone is produced because of the resonating hole covered with extremely thin paper or bamboo film. A decorative cord is attached through an ornamental hole at the back of the instrument.
