The two drumheads are tied on by means of tuning cords which pass through the rims. Another long cord is used as a shoulder strap. Struck with the palms of both hands. A replica of a "hip drum" which was used in gigaku. Restored for the ceremonies in celebration of the completion of the Great Buddha Hall at Todaji Temple, Nara, in 1980.
